To the lady who got involved and helped my sister (who worked in the beauty industry in NYC) pull together three conservative outfits at a store mere hours before the wake of our father… after she had pulled all the clothes from her closet and deemed them inappropriate for so sad and solemn an occasion (too short, too hip, too sexy, too colorful) and was franticly searching the racks…
YOU ARE AN ANGEL!
To the young man jogging on a deserted highway with a confusing maze of construction and detours… who pointed the way to my train station when I had ten minutes to make my train on my very first day of an important new job that I really wanted…
YOU ARE AN ANGEL!
To the very young boy who wordlessly appeared suddenly in the very early morning and helped me get an extremely heavy suitcase up a long flight of stairs while I was traveling…
YOU ARE AN ANGEL!
To the young man in a wheelchair that passed me and smiled at street level in the 72nd street subway station in NYC when I was rushing to get downstairs… and who magically appeared three tracks over from where I stood on the platform and began shouting Blessings at me… I felt the love of your heart…
YOU ARE AN ANGEL!
These are just some of the many wonderful moments that are so fresh in my memory. There are many more. I have seen kindness and caring on the streets and subways of NYC. I have glimpsed the absolute beauty and purity of people’s hearts and souls and the difference a mere moment can make in another’s life. I totally believe in the beauty and goodness of human beings.
We are all angels at one time or another and perhaps we will never know how we have helped or uplifted another person. For me I say… Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
